2008 - On We Go

Posted in General Animation Bantor, Sketches on January 9th, 2008 by Jab

New Year’s Eve sucked but there’s a whole new year to make up for it.
Some sketches from the studio.

A pig guy, a Wee Free Man (”A Hat Full Of Sky” is my current audio book) and Germany’s most famous viking. They are planning a new show based on one of Germany’s most famous radio programs for children. I submitted some character designs which I can’t, unfortunately, show right here and now. More about that if and when there are news.
On to ever newer and more interesting things!

Hijackin’ Santa’s Sleigh

Ah, the holidays. I get to draw for my own amusement for a change!

If, unlike us guys here in Germany, you can’t indulge in the very materialistic aspects of Christmas until tomorrow morning, just go and hijack yourself one of Santa’s fake little helpers’ sleighs.

Season’s Greetings to all, especially Cartuneman!

Short Update

Posted in Animation from Germany, General Animation Bantor, Finished on November 13th, 2007 by Jab

So for the last four weeks I’ve been working as an animator for a small studio in Cologne. Well, what much can I say? I’m working with old school friends, the place is quite cosy, I’m making OK progress and I get to produce TV animation on my first real job in the field. So in spite of a six-hour commute every day by train, the fact that German train drivers are still fighting their superiors and going on strike every other day and that I can’t move to Cologne before December and have to put up with the weather until then - I’m having a great little time!

Busy, Busy

Working for a cosy little, Cologne-based animation studio for the next two months. Unless I can find a room there soon, we’re talking up to six hours of commuting every day. (Please, dear train drivers of Germany, find some other ways of exerting pressure on your higher-ups than those annoying random strikes.

Discworld’s Sam Vimes, based on Pete Postlethwaite as series author Terry Pratchett intended.

And some animation ruffs (which don’t have anything to do with that studio’s project).

Ægidius Ahenobarbus Julius Agricola

One of my favourite stories is and will always be J. R. R. Tolkien’s Farmer Giles of Ham and the Dragon. Whoever hasn’t  yet should read it, it’s good for the soul.

It’s also an excellent reason for some sketching in inopportune places.

Days Before Halloween

Posted in Sketches on October 7th, 2007 by Jab

For a fantasy spoof, I’m in need of a campy-looking villain, reminiscent of 80s guys like Skeletor, Venger, Hordak and Mondraggor. So here goes:

This year’s Halloween character project, a skeleton/pumpkin/zombie-witch. Can’t wait to add colour.
